Celebrating Cultural Diversity
May 21 is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The goal of this international event is to help people appreciate how cultural diversity enriches our everyday lives, and understand how to recognize and respect cultural differences.
At PROMIS, we are always working hard to develop intercultural dialogue in order to break down stereotypes little by little, and to encourage open-mindedness while helping new immigrants settle into Quebec.
Why Promote Diversity?
As a common point of entry for immigrants and refugees arriving in Quebec, Montreal is a melting pot that includes a multitude of different cultures. Its cultural diversity contributes to its status as a world-class city and helps support its economic development.
Our urban landscape is dotted with different cultural symbols, from artistic elements and unique architecture to the festivals that enrich our daily lives.
Cultural diversity is a powerful economic lever that has helped Montreal create a name for itself on an international scale, and share its welcoming spirit with others through the lens of respecting other walks of life.
PROMIS: a Beacon of Cultural Diversity
At PROMIS, our mission is to help immigrants and refugees integrate into Quebec and defend their rights from a social development perspective. By actively working to preserve their autonomy, respect their differences, and provide both aid and solidarity, PROMIS plays an important role in supporting Montreal’s cultural diversity.
On World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 2020, we want to double down on our efforts to raise awareness about cultural acceptance, and facilitate a dialogue between the multitude of cultures that have found a home here in Montreal. 😌
