Academic Support

Academic assistance for your children in Montreal

At PROMIS, we believe that immigrant students deserve to be happy and successful at school. Our activities and tutoring create a 360-degree support network around children experiencing academic challenges, paving the path to success.

Support services for students ages 6 to 12

To access this service, your child must be referred by a teacher from their school. Our team of 120 academic support volunteers work on-site at school to create a link between you, your child, and the academic institution.

We can help in a number of ways:

  • Saturday School encourages children to find joy in reading and writing through fun learning activities.
  • Projet Ado is a group program for students in grades 7 and 8.
  • PROMIS day camp offers 4 weeks of summer programming for children ages 6 to 16.
  • Spring break camp offers programming for children ages 6 to 12.

In addition to supporting your child, we will guide you towards other PROMIS services as needed, such as employment assistance and French courses.

Academic support for children and parents alike

We set the conditions for your children to persevere and succeed. As a parent, you’ll benefit too.

  • Build a closer relationship with the school
  • Better understand the Quebec school system
  • Receive continuous support in your native language
  • Facilitate direct collaboration between your family, your child’s school, and your community

At PROMIS, we understand the school dynamic and immigrant students’ needs.

Speak with a School Liaison Officer about academic support.

School liaison officers

School liaison officers offer support for immigrant families across 6 partner schools, creating a link between educational institutions and PROMIS. Their work aims to foster relationships between schools, families, and the community, facilitating a smoother integration process and setting the conditions for children to succeed academically.

Individual support

School liaison officers completed 317 interventions with 118 parents.

Group activities

These activities help parents forge a relationship with the school and better support their children’s academic progress. 270 parents participated in 12 group activities:
