I am a temporary worker

Welcome to Quebec! Since you’ll be here for a little while, let’s make sure you can make the most of this opportunity. Our advisors are here to support you and ensure your experience is as fulfilling as possible. And if you decide to stay longer, we can also help you through that process.

Here are a few services that may be useful to you.

Welcome and integration

Don’t let your immigration questions go unanswered. Our friendly team can assess your needs, simplify your integration process, point you towards essential services, and help you obtain your immigration documents.

French courses

Whether you’re on a 3-month or 1-year work permit, learning French during your stay will make it much easier to communicate. For both working and socializing, learning French is the best way to settle in. These free courses are hosted at PROMIS’ warm, welcoming, accessible offices. They are offered by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI).

Family support

Recently arrived in Quebec for work but don’t have a local network? Feeling isolated? PROMIS organizes activities and workshops to better understand cultural and family life here in Quebec. You’ll also have the chance to meet immigrants who are living the same experiences as you are. If you came here alone, we can guide you through the process of bringing your family to Quebec.

Academic support

The Quebec school system has plenty to offer your children. Our goal is to build a strong support network around them so they can make the most of these opportunities. We will also provide ongoing support in your native language in close collaboration with school staff.

Food action

New country, new culinary experiences. We offer a number of courses and workshops to help you get oriented at the grocery store, make healthy choices, and cook with local ingredients. Your new favourite recipes await!

Live outside a major metropolitan area

Quebec is a huge province with plenty to offer. Why not use your job search as an opportunity to explore outside its largest cities? There are lots of opportunities to discover. Our integration partners across the province regularly organize visits to different areas of Quebec.

Immigrant entrepreneurship

Quebec is a haven for entrepreneurs. How would you like to learn about the province’s entrepreneurial landscape, participate in workshops, attend networking events, and receive personalized support to bring your vision to life? We offer plenty of resources for immigrants who want to start a business.

Maria-Goretti Residence for single women

Are you a woman who moved here on her own and is looking for safe, affordable housing in Montreal? One of our 217 rooms can be yours for 3 months to 1 year, located in a multicultural neighbourhood just a stone’s throw from all the amenities you might need.

Lend a hand

There are many ways to find your place in Quebec society. Volunteering is a rewarding activity that will help you better understand your new environment while supporting others.
